EDIT: Got Mg, would argon (cheap, £30 or so per cylinder) do?
I'd need to use a microwave and inert glass frit to seal the tube then pump it down and encase in a susceptor such as silicon carbide powder, in a fire cement casing with some sort of thermal feedback.
EDIT: Best to use a proper crucible, tried it with ZnGaS (Zn+GaO+S) and it broke spectacularly.
