In chem we are 'learning' how to do complex ions reactions... The teacher gave a list of 30 reactions and said there will be a quiz on 7 of them on Tuesday :-@ Is there any way to learn them, or do you just memorise them?
How would one go about solving a problem like pellets of Al metal are added to a solution with an excess of sodium hydroxide (answer Al + OH- -> [Al(Oh)4] + H2) An excess of ammonia gas is bubbled through a solution with silver chloride (answer NH3 + Ag+ -> [Ag(NH3))2] + Cl-) etc...

when you add Al to NaOH you don't just get Al(OH)3, rather you get a complex salt of Sodium Aluminate, water, and Hydrogen gas.
You're probably best off memorizing what you can because its hard to understand when its new material. Also, I would look at what was in the recent lecture, and assign more importance to those reactions. The ones with Manganese are difficult because of its multiple oxidation states, I would look at that one too.
I sometimes judge what to expect by the amount of time of the test/quiz, recent material, and difficulty.

ok, time for some studying
There has been NO mention of the reactions in the lectures, it was literally the teacher gave us the answers to the reactions, said to memorise them, there will be a quiz on Tuesday, if you see them on the AP test just skip them
