Over the last 6 months or so I've been building a small CO2 laser as part of a school project, going towards my A levels and university as application. Most people use a neon sign transformer for the power supply as they're designed to power gas discharge tubes for prolonged periods of time, but I wanted to make my own power supply and wound my own flyback transformer and powered it with a ZVS, however just as I finished the laser tube and was getting ready to connect it to my power supply my transformer seems to have shorted out internally. I haven't got the time to wind another transformer, especially if I can't prevent internal breakdown, I even vacuum potted my last one in oil. So what I'm looking for is a neon sign transformer of 10kv plus and 20mA plus output cheaply, I'm doing this project to a deadline and I'v invested a lot so far, in the optics especially, and have to get this going. As you can imagine this is being done to a student's budget so cheap is pretty vital,
Thanks.
