That vacuum pump pulls about the same vacuum as a fridge compressor. For a roughing pump you need a oil filled vacuum pump, preferably a dual stage one.

Got a make and model on the pump? I have been looking for a small oil free pump to back my turbo-drag on my mass spec.

Any more info on the pmts?

Macona, i dont think that pump is much use for that kind of thing as i was looking at his videos, and it had a part where he was putting his finger over the end and from what i saw it wasnt pulling much of a vacuum, for backing pumps i think you need oil type usually. i could be wrong however
