Hey guys,
Barrys RLC sim wont work for me because its on a older version of java and refuses to work with the newer version
is there any other sims that will work for me that i can use?

if someone else can access it, could they plug in these values and give me a pic of the graph?
4700uf 400v
49uH
0.1 Ohms

the coil is
170 turns
40mm long
1mm wire

Huge thanks,
Thomas W

Works fine for me. Are you making a coilgun?

That would work great. The peak current rating in the datasheet is usually for an 8.33ms pulse (half a sine wave from 60Hz mains). Since your current pulse is only 1.7ms long, the SCR could probably withstand even more current.

Hey Thomas, can you tell me more about what version of Java you're using? Especially if you can send me a copy of the Java console log, that would be great. Either here or a direct email, whichever you like.

Good advice. Those stud SCRs you found on eBay should work well and probably last forever with your capacitor.

Cheers, Barry

Try upgrading your Java run-time environment (JRE) to version 7 update 25 or later. Link2

You should get an option to accept the warning and run my Java applet:

U25

Oracle messed up its recent security updates and issued several in a row. You just need to get the latest.

Cheers, Barry
