Automated satellite track detection from photographs

I have made an algorithm for detecting satellite tracks in long exposure photographs (15 seconds in the example).

If anyone has any pictures with satellite tracks in them it would be helpful to evaluate the efficiency of the algorithm. It works well on my pictures but that is not very surprising since they were used to develop it.

The best would be unprocessed pictures at the original resolution with any EXIF information intact in the file. The technical quality of the pictures is not important since I want to know what makes it fail, not to confirm that it works.

Here are three images I took the other night which all contain satellite tracks. Hopefully these will help you. These are original .JPG images taken from my Canon 20Da mounted on a tripod.

It worked on those pictures too, they were very different from mine so it seems like the algorithm is quite usable. I managed to make it fail sometimes because the background was not as uniform as in my pictures. I found a simple way to fix it.

I'm afraid I can't help with pictures with satelites in them- the light polution levels are too high where I live.
On the other hand, I wonder if you have thought about setting up a cloud camber or (more difficult) a bubble chamber. I realise it isn't the same thing but if it will spot the tracks in a cloud chamber then there is some hope that it will spot any satelite tracks you can get.

You could probably just simulate a satellite pass by drawing a straight light with low opacity.
