Hello all. I went to Linux World 2006 today in San Francisco. Did anyone else here go? From the looks of it, it was more like Hardware World 2006, but it was still interesting. Got some free t-shirts, pens, and other stuff. I had been thinking that I had been seeing a general trend toward more lower speed/power processors to increase overall efficiency. I saw a lot of such systems here. There were some quad 1U systesm with dual cores, which gave 8 processors a system which I thought was pretty neat. Then those were stacked up in racks to get quite a few processors. Had a raffle for some Promise storage systems that I had a pretty good chance at, but I didn't get one :( I work a couple of blocks away from the Moscone center where it was held, so I went on an extended lunch break there. I had a VIP pass, but didn't really have the time to do any of the stuff that the VIP pass would let me do. However, I think all of the other people with VIP passes went on the first days, so I got some comments about having it and don't recall seeing anyone else with one. My thanks to Open Source Storage for it. Anyone else have any opinions about the event/past event/similar events? This was the first type of such an event I had gone to, so it was pretty interesting to me.
