I wanted to just say hi to the community and tell a bit about myself.
Well I'm a 15 year old nearly 16 really interested in those types of electronics and physics. The things they teach me in school.. just ugh. That's so boring. There are a lot of better ways to explain physics to a teenager.
Anyway I'm really looking forward to having fun with building some of the easiest things i found around the wiki and then trying to make something more difficult :). I hope i can count on your help in case i cant figure out how to do something :)

Well glad to meet another 15 year old on here. I know what you mean. My school is pretty terrible at electronics. The physics program isn't too bad; it just needs more experiments. I think you should start with a SGTC. It isn't too hard to build, and I think you'll have much fun building it... and running it!

Okay thank you for your advice I'll surely try it. And yeah it needs more experiments and usage in real life because knowledge without any understanding how can you use it isn't very good.

I started working on my coil with a pretty basic understanding of electricity. I barely knew what voltage was. I could read schematics to some extent, and I knew very few formulas. I'm sure you can build one. As long as you know electrical safety (and you said you read the HvWiki page), a basic understanding of electronics, and you have some test equipment (I mean... all you really need is a multimeter. And it isn't even 100% necessary. And a program called JavaTC. It's not too hard to build... I've just been too lazy to finish mine. It will be done before Thanksgiving Break though hehe. And the forum is always there to help you. So welcome to 4HV. Check out the IRC, too. If you're good with them, they're good with you. Just be sure you don't get too off topic at times--some of the moderators are a little picky with that. I'm TeslaGirl on the IRC. You should come on and tell us a little about yourself. I doubt I'll be on the same time as you, as I'm on the opposite side of the planet, but there are a lot of Europeans on the IRC that can talk to you at your night time. So check it out! Nice to have another coiler. One question: Are you a boy or a girl? I'm assuming you're a guy, because there aren't too many girls around here, and I'm one of them :P

Now that you are 18, over 3 years have passed, did you build any Tesla coils yet? :)

@Patrick I will be having lots of fun! :)

@Mads Actually not, my idea to build one 3 years ago got destroyed by my parents who said it'd be too dangerous. But I'm now experimenting with electronics and radio transmissions therefore I have remembered about this forum :)
