Has anyone used the latest offerings from Rig Expert. This model goes to 1000 mHz and featured Smith Chart, and other graphics. The calculation software details are scant but the USB connection is a feature.

I'm not an expert, I have never used RigExpert stuff but I've used an MFJ antenna analyzer, and a usb based network analyzer, and repaired an Agilent network analyzer. A couple of thoughts;
1) will you make money/assist your career with this tool, or is it just a 'nice to have' ?
2) is 1 GHz max. a good choice? (lower = cheaper, higher = more suited to much modern work)
3) is an on the spot Smith chart of real use to you? i.e. very wideband antenna/matching (as opposed to just downloadable data that you can use as required)
4) have you considered a usb based network analyzer ? does everything an antenna analyzer can AND analyzes two-port stuff too, makes use of computing power and graphics of your laptop.

I have the 269PRO MJF analyzer now, but it doesn't cover the 220 mHz band. I do use it to make/check antennas. The Smith feature, is interesting but probably useless since I have never done anything except a paper chart for coursework.
The idea of having a data saving feature via USB would be useful for test records.
The TDR function, I am familiar with from past work installing coax. A ham who doesn't know where the cable is damaged is rare.
It is a lot of money, about half the price of the 269PRO with the accessories and delivery. I have never used a network analyzer.
The 1000 mHz feature would be for 900 mHz work. (our smart meters use that band)
Some hams I know with the 269 are worried about blowing the front end, hence never let it out of their sight. It would be the same for the Rig Expert.
One thing worries me, the fundamental oscillator goes to 200 mHz and higher uses harmonics. (the MFJ does the same to reach up to 70 cM)
