Hi all.
As you may know, I have a broken 7700 series camera with a bad CCD. It mostly works but the preview function doesen't and there are serious artifacts on the images. As I consider it an "organ donor" camera, the possibility exists of using the CCD with the colour filters removed for B/W use.
Has anyone else ever attempted this? Its a fairly recent CCD but no evidence of a microlens array so hopefully the filter(s) are just printed on the surface. Methods I intend to try are:- boiling acetone spray, directed UV laser (already know this dents it), combination of the two, mild acid, etc. Possibly also use a nasty solvent such as MEK, to see if this does something that acetone doesen't.

Oh, I know this is an old thread.
The color filters are part if the CCD (Probably CMOS, CCDs are getting rare) itself and are under the glass that protects everything. There is probably nothing you can use that will remove them without destroying the sensor.

Thought so, thanks anyway. I have since dismantled the camera for parts, as at least the lens assembly works. It had a few other problems anyway such as damaged screen..
