Hi all.
Just found (or rather someone donated) two IRFK2D250 "dual bricks". These have a pair of MOSFETs in series with separate gate drives, presumably from some sort of industrial UPS.
Has anyone managed to build an IH with such a beast? These seem to be built to last so even if useless for TC/IH they could be useable for small robots/BattleBots/etc. thanks! -A

Well, you have a H-bridge of beefy MOSFETs, it should work well for any of the usual HV/HF projects. The only downside is that they're only 200V so you can't run the system directly off rectified mains. You'll need a source of 100-150V DC at lots of amps.

Drat, I knew there had to be a catch. Oh well, still handy for driving a matching transformer with a suitable snubber and overvoltage clamp so they don't fry. In fact this is the preferred approach as with induction heaters it can sometimes be a right pain to get the matching right without this component. -A
