Air convection velocity

Hi
I'm trying to workout the velocity of air inside a pipe thats sealed and ten meters long.
I've found this Air Velocity

vc = 0.65 [g l dt / (273 + te)]1/2 (1)
where
vc = velocity in center of airflow (m/s)
g = 9.81 - acceleration of gravity (m/s2)
l = vertical distance from bottom of the surface (m)
dt = te - ts= temperature differanse between surface and room environment
ts = temperature surface (oC)
te = temperature surrounding environment (oC)

The pipe would be on the same level, would 10meters be for the vertical distance or 0meters.

If it's really sealed and the pipe and the seals are all the same temperature the steady state velocity (ignoring Brownian motion) of the air inside the pipe will be 0.

I doubt your teacher asked the question this poorly :p

I wish it was the teacher :)
If you have a rectangle 1m * 5m, one side is 600C and the other side is 100C, would there be any velocity.
I'm try to heat a pipe with fire and get the air inside to flow through it at 400m/sec min. is there any way, like maybe more turns.

You are trying to get supersonic flow rates (400m/sec) by convection?
I doubt that's practical and it may be impossible.
