Ok, over the last few weeks I have written down a list of projects. I have all the parts & resources required to build anything here, some projects are listed because I want to build them, others are listed as possible uses for the various parts I have. It's just time/motivation i'm lacking!
So what shall I build first? Feel free to build any of these projects for me also or add your own ideas if you want...it can turn into a project ideas thread.
- speaking microcontroller - solar charging LED camping torch - shortwave regen receiver using FETs - digital clock using 7 segment displays - audio amplifier using TDA amp chip - solar powered clock? lots of solar panels - DRSSTC - Large * - SGTC medium (wind the secondary) * - hall effect thing - scanner, or levitator - Laser oscilloscope - mountain bike mounted video camera - long distance wifi experiments/build antennas - wireless power transmitter - PHP content management system modification * - wind turbine - learn OpenGL properly - 1KW petrol generator - large mains inverter
* = started, but lots to do
Bear in mind anything I do properly will be put onto my website eventually with full write up and everything I'm also hoping by listing all this lot here I'll be more motivated to get on and finish some things instead of just surfing the net, watching films and going to the pub

Hi Avalanche
I tried the mountain bike mounted video camera one day. It was a "ghetto" version where I fixed a camera phone to the chest strap on a backpack, and took off down our local dirt jumping trail.
The video was disappointing but still quite funny, all you can see is a blur of bike parts and body parts as the phone shakes around, until finally it comes loose, flies through the air and hits the ground. Then on the soundtrack you can hear me swearing, slamming my brakes on and turning back to get it.
I'd post it but I only have it in 3gp format and can't remember how to convert it.

Even when you have it all planned, something new comes along. Tomorrow I am picking up two big commercial printing lasers for free. Apart from that most of my spare time for the next 3 weeks will be taken up with tidying up displays for the upcoming Uni physics expo.

woh, good to see i'm not the only one who has more ideas than time

haha, that reminds me of when I was going down some hill at abouit 30. I used to fix my phone to the handlebars, anyway it fell off, and I ended up doing a rolling endo for about 20 yards as the phone bounced down the road behind me. When I eventually stopped and found the phone, it had totally popped apart, took a while to gather everything together including the sim, but it worked again.
I was thinking of using an old webcam, and a laptop in my bag. Just need to fabricate some kind of bracket.
Oh, and add Linux to the list. Finally settled for Kubuntu...

I think TDU definitely needs a SSTC (maybe a DR after). Also looking forward big VTTC and CO2 laser
I didn't even understand the meaning of some titles
''Lifter boat'' ''TC as HV earth cap'' ''Power of one battery'' - joule theif?? ''TC cap in secondary'' ''macro pics?'' ''refresh water'' ''planar antenna''
But I can conclude your polyprojectitis illnes is dire TDU... ;)
And those I'm planning: -2d scanner for my laser -LED spinner thingie clock -TEA2 -reading GB cam -midi SSTC -SSY1 (getting the head from a friend) -induction heater

As far as building a camping light with solar, don't be surprised if it doesn't do anything desirable. My brother found that at one of the SCA events a group had dozens of these to light their camsite and it didn't work. So heads up there.
TDA amplifiers, well.....don't be surprised by that one either. They just aren't what you think they are. I was attempting to do a 6.1 system with the TDA 1554 stereo chip, and it suked. The chip has great options, but you really have to stick to the spec or else you loose a tremendous amount of power. If you plan to use it at all, use it with 4R speakers. At 8R things work fine until you reach its upper power threshold where it goes from 1%THD to 10% THD and its just AWFUL. My plans were working for a while, but when things got really interesting at higher volumes the quality was too poor and I gave up on the project. A DIY theater surround will cost you ~$300, and to go out and buy a 600W surround with DSP, selector, tuner, and the works costs you $200. So heads up there too.
I still have the heatsink and bracketing the chips are mounted on. A surround system is a bit ambitious, and Yamaha does a much better job then me.
