Hey yan, is it possible to trigger an ETG with a laser induced plasma channel? Just asking, don't know or care about efficiency. I just think it would be a cool idea.
If laser is capable to highly ionize the air between electrodes, then yes, discharge between them will be triggered. Howether, I doubt you will find such a laser. The ultra-violet radiation from another spark nearby the electrodes does this effect, actually.

ok, would be cool. I just read about an Electrolaser and I thought, that might be applicable to an etg. (ofcourse an electrolaser uses an extremely high voltage of between 10^8V and 10^9V, but it might still be possible.) don't think it would be a better idea. it might be easier, but it would cost you some. Maybe it's a better choice for a really big ETG, but I don't know.

Hi,
I really like this design Yandersen ! However, it could be quite challenging to build an actual chamber with those three electrodes insulated from one another. You would need a plastic chamber, but it may not be tough enough...
