I Am actually looking for a air variable capacitor now instead of a doorknob, in the 1-700pf range or around there. Any available would be appreciated! I Thought I had a good sized one, but I think i threw it away some time back frown

I would be willing to trade for something- I have lots of small ferrite toroids, multisection ~400V capacitors, 3 small aluminum boxes- perfect for a simple interrupter for a SSTC (~1.6"x3.25"x2") and lots of other stuff- ask, and I will look and see if I have it!

umm, what voltage do you need?

I have a 10-250pf one I could part with out of a cheap fm radio... it isn't exactly air variable, it has sheets of some plastic that keep the plates lined up... But without knowing what you need it for I can't really say if it will work or not. I wouldn't use it over about 50v in any case... I have no idea what it was rated for...

btw 600th post tongue

Its for the tank capacitor in a ~600V VTTC- so 50V wouldn't quite cut it tongue Thanks, Though

Any reason a vacuum variable capacitor wouldn't work? I've got a 5-500pf 3kvac, and another one thats 10-1000pf 1kv+ that I haven't found on my bench yet. They look pretty new, but the silver plating on the contacts have tarnished.

It would work, however I am trying to put this coil in a small box, and vaccuum capacitors tend not to be small or cheap tongue Also, this project is going on hold right now as I am building a subwoofer enclosure for my car, and saving money for the subs and amp. Thanks for the offer though!
