I am working on a spreadsheet to approximate the velocity, timing and other characteristics of a coilgun. I am requesting data from some of you guys so i can see how accurate it is. If it is resionably close i will post the excell sheet on this thread.

Info I need:

projectile speed
projectile weight
estimate efficency
voltage
capatance
stages if any
switching method

You mean data from coilguns we've built?

projectile speed: 39.2m/s
projectile weight: 32.8kg
(actual) efficiency: 2.02%
voltage: 400V
capacitance: 15,600 uF
stages if any: 1
switching method: SCR, single diode commutated

its more of a morter

projectile speed: 6m/s
projectile weight: 3kg
efficiency: ?
voltage: 800V
capacitance: 27,200 uF
stages if any: 1
switching method: large 3 phase, 400v 800A, soleniod fired, mains switch.
coil: primary from a Pig trasformer.
