Ahoy all.

I never posted very much at the old forum, and most (that do whatsoever) know me from the chat room. I hope to post a bit more on this new forum... Which, by the way, is awesome.

Well done!

Hi everyone, it's great to see the new board up!

I've got a question for the mods though: At the moment it seems everyone can create an account without any verification, is it going to stay like this or is it only to save the old 4HVers the hassle? I guess it would be a good idea to restrict applications in a weeks time or so, to keep up the high level of nonsense and chit-chat smile

...TDU, there's no reason it should make your work tedious. You needn't worry about resizing images at all this way. Simply upload the full sized ones, and the forum will take care of the rest...
Wow, looks like this forum actually does resample and resize, not just squash them =-D
Does it save the images so it only has to do it once? This is great! :)

...I tend to agree with Matt on this issue. Maybe the answer is to go with something really small, like 200 pixels. Then we are saving a TON of bandwidth, and we are emphasizing that it's just a thumbnail, and that you can click to get a full sized image....
/ me gets on knees and begs.

If you're going to do this, please, please make it a logical multiple of something or power of two, e.g. 256, 320, 480, 512, etc. 475 is a bit odd. Pretty please with cream and a cherry on the top?

I don't mean to bitch and moan, but I liked being able to see the text of the URL I'm going to without having to wave my mouse over it. Is it possible to reimplement this, or do you guys all prefer a girly arrow? hehehe :P

Another suggestion is relating to the inline smilies: currently they kill the flow of the text. You had awesome smilies on the "old" 4hv, which were the same height as the text (in pixels) when browser text-size/zoom and line-height were on default. Is it possible to pull this one off on the new forum?

It's the little things that hurt =P

is there a way to insert a hyperlink into a thread and having it displayed as an actual web address as opposed to a green arrow?

i think its easier to have the hyperlink displayed as a a text hyperlink so its 1) readily visible, and 2) easily to see where its going other than having to move your mouse over it.

thanks
dan

Well, let's start an application with a lot more of information:

I'm Pcnerd, generally known at fora like gathering of tweakers, eprogrammeur, and circuitsonline.
Those all three are fora wich have to do with electronics and computers (in Dutch).
I'm watching this forum about a few months now, and started some HV projects of myself, including a 56joule cap-bank (Link2, some older ones, my MOT's: Link2 I am ATM building a TC with a friend of my, based on a 7,5KV 50mA NST power supply. Also I have been done a lot of low voltage experiements, I am starting to etch and using microcontrollers. Maybe in the near future I will start soon with some little experiements with liquid nitrogen2, I have already have been up to some little chemistry experiements.

Some general questions:
How did you find us?
By a link my friend gave me when we were researching on tc's and cap banks.

What are your interests?
As you can see above, almost everything with computers, electrotechnics and a little chemistry.

What are your reasons for joining?
Of course to post comments, as questions and discuss.

Note: My first language is not Englisch, but Dutch.

that will be enough so far :)

I like the forum, but I have a few improvement's, I will post them :)
