Saturation accelerator?

Hi

I'm new here, but I wanted to ask if anyone can comment on this idea I had.

I'm talking about a linear projectile accelerator.

It is made of a barrel of high u material, like mu-metal. The solenoid around it is driven by a current, such that the part of the barrel that is inside the solenoid saturates - the inductance of the circuit falls sharply as the high permanence of around 50 000 drops close to 1.

Now, the projectile is made so, that as it enters the barrel inside the solenoid, the barrel desaturates and the inductance rises sharply and the difference in coenergy in the two states is converted into mechanical energy.

Some critique wold help me to develop the idea.

The pdf you attached is screwed up.

I am not familiar with coenergy and a quick wiki search only confused me further, so it would help if you could give an intuitive explanation of how this would work. In fact a few more details in general would not hurt.

Sorry I can't be of more help right now.
