heyho,
here's a little project i build today :))) . A mini mini mini ETG working with ~80j :) its triggered with a mini hf-ignition. ( like a teslacoil with just 10 sec. turns, which ionize the air , bla bla bla ... hope u know wot i mean :)(same as in a wig welding set )).

I googled for etgs and i found nothing...Is it a coil gun or what? Can you post a circuit diagram and better explain its purpose please?

a etg is an electic thermo gun, which use the mechanical energy of an elko to creat a little explosion and accelerate a projectile like a real gun : )

i finally finished the electrothermal gun =) after .. ahm over 1 year xD

total stored energy is 200j
the power level is really high, higher then any coilgun i build with the same energy input. i can shot throuh 2 thick tins and can make 1cm deep holes into houswalls (stone)

i use nothing as fuel, its a pur plasma etg. the caps are discharged by a little lightning.

here is a little schematic, which show you the funktion :

You mean a triggered spark gap? Or are you vaporizing some sort of metal?
