If you had a 100pF 50kv doorknob cap you could make a useful high voltage divider, of course you would have to make a stand for the whole thing, I'm sure that capacitor is relatively heavy.

I think to build up a voltage divider for AC by capacitors is a good idea.
"If you had a 100pF 50kv doorknob cap you could make a useful high voltage divider".
Using your 100pF 50kv doorknob cap and my 10nF cap, the 100 pF should be at the high voltage side. To divide a voltage of 200 kV down to 100 V (2000:1) you would need a capacitor at the low voltage side of 20uF.
