photoflash capacitor discharge time

I've tried to find without success the discharge time of a typical photoflash capacitor when you short it. Any ideas on how to calculate it, or an average figure? thanks in advance

well RC is the typical means, but the tube turns to almost zero resistance. so this circuit tends to be limited to parasitics and ESR. within the capacitor. So i think you might, if your willing to risk an oscillscope, use inductive or a nearby plate or wire to sort of be in tune with the pulse. i dont know if you want to do it by current, voltage or both. but dont kill your o-scope.

If you look at the Rubycon data for the 120uF photoflash capacitor, they quote a nominal lifetime of 5000 shots into a 1 ohm load.

You'll probably find the ESR within an order of magnitude of that figure.
