Heres a little side project i thought id post.

1481527140 2431 FT0 Milled 1
I milled a piece of T6 aluminum to hold an articulated arm. Im fortunate my current employer lets me mill personal pieces and powder coat them.

1481527140 2431 FT0 Surface 1
When the surface plate arrived it was in a huge cardboard box, loaded with heavy bubble wrap and shredded cardboard. Then there was a wooden crate inside with still more shredded cardboard. I was pretty worried about breaking into the box and breaking it.

1481527140 2431 FT0 Surface 2
I had the Aluminum powder coated "candy red". Here you can see i bought the 2-ledge type for carrying.

1481527649 2431 FT1630 Drill Press
I was real careful drilling that 1/2" hole.

1481527649 2431 FT1630 Cement
The red arm was bought on Ebay for 16 USD the two pieces are matched pretty well in color.

1481527915 2431 FT1630 Stud 2
Boring 3/8" holes using a diamond bit was really sketchy, i was afraid they'd wander around, but it when i measured they were right where i wanted them.

1481527649 2431 FT1630 Stud
Here you can see the holes, the scuffed surface and the 1/4-20 studs. it was all epoxied together.

1481527915 2431 FT1630 Surface 4
It seems to work perfectly.

I 3d printed a little stand to turn this dial indicator into a gauge plunger for my 3d printer table setting.
