Hi everyone,

We have been working on a musical bipolar Tesla Coil and would like to present an informative video of our progress @ Link2

Please enjoy!

Kind regards,

Looks great, I did indeed enjoy it! How does it respond to more power or a wider range of tones?

If you're looking to do more videos, some others here might also have suggestions regarding microphones that can cope better with the noise a coil makes. I know kizmo has a mic test on his youtube channel somewhere.

Hydron,

Good advice. Power consumption is 3Kw (avg). Resonant frequency is about 25khz, so it appears that pulse duration has a direct proportion to the operating frequency and needs to be longer as the operating frequency is reduced. This has been verified by my Ham Radio buddies, who examined the fundamentals of this coil design. That said, our interupter, or "Teslasynth", designed by Eric Goodchild, is being run "wide open"....maximum duration / power available! So this coil appears to be very efficient. Nice thing is that only a "safety" or equipment ground is needed on this coil as none of the high voltage energy needs to be referenced to earth.

Kind regards,
Hank

It suddenly looks massive with that primary in vertical.

In the video there is some smoke rising up in the left of the video at 6:45 and forward, did you fry anything?

I believe the smoke may have been from my wife enjoying her cigarette while she was filming....or maybe there really was magic smoke escaping from some nearby electrical equipment...you never know out here in Arizona; could have been from the nuke plant! not sure.

Anyway, good observation.

Hank

Very nice work. Was the metal flake in the secondary coating just for aesthetics ?

Yes, the metal flake looks really cool with the light reflecting on it.

Here's a video featuring the Hellcat Bipolar Tesla Coil playing the bass on this boogie woogie song Link2 . Hope you all enjoy!

Regards,
Dr. Hank
