Hi there !
I am currently building a small spark gap tesla coil powered by a mazzilli drived flyback. The coil does not work at the moment, and its probably due to multiple causes, which I am trying to eliminate one by one.
After winding the secondary, I measured the DC resistance of the winding, and found out 5.9 kohm, instead of the 150 ohm javaTC gave me.
I realised that the wire I used was not copper, but "nichrome" which obviously has a much higher resistance.
Does the high secondary DC resistance could be one the reasons the coil does not work ? What is the impact of this resistance on tesla coil performance ?

The wire is insulated, pretty much like an enamel coat. I thought it was copper (same wire colour).
How much does it hurt performance ? Only seeing some corona on the breakout point when it should be tuned for example ?
At first, I did not think it would be an issue because small HV transformer usually have a high DC resistance on their secondary winding, which does not prevent them from working and outputting decent voltage.
