Hey, everyone. I'm making a low-power induction heater based on the ZVS circuit, but there is a problem.
The actual oscillator is functional, but my workpiece (a small nail) doesn't appear to... change temperature. The inductors make a high-pitched squeal, like normal.

This modified image shows my component specifications:

1326145152 3451 FT0 Inductionheater

I think the current might be too low... any ideas? Thanks.

I used a old flyback core, because I though I'd damage my ZVS (IRFP250's) and I used 6+6 on the flyback core (my PSU si crap, it will short if less than 6+6) and 8 on the secondary, and a work coil made from an inductor from a PC motherboard and at 65W I can turn a screwdriver red hot.

Thanks for the reply, Platinum.
I did as you suggested, but there was no improvement. Also, the inductor (center-tap ZVS, so just one) only squealed when the battery's positive terminal was connected in a certain position.

Can it drive a flyback?, check that, if it can't somethings wrong.

Btw in your schematic you are using a 12v 1.3Ah battery. That's 15~watts, you need atleast 100watts for a even working heater.

That will bearly even drive a flyback, I've tried 12v at 1A for fun, and I can shock my self with it.

I can get a screwdriver red with 65Watts, but it takes a while.

It can, but the sparks aren't that great.

How do you find the watts based on ampere-hours and voltage? Did you just multiply 12 by 1.3?

Yes, it should be 15.6watt/H...

That's really bad power get a better PSU, or battery, alot of people use 12V SLA's, like 12v 7aH.

With the power you have you won't be able to make a induction heater, maybe a capacitor bank charger, but that's it, and also a lifter.

Thanks! You probably saved me a lot of unrelated troubleshooting. I should probably get started on that new power supply.

No problem, for the ZVS 3 12v SLA's in series work well, I'm trying to get PC PSU's for 24v at 15A~, that will make a excellent induction heater, and my spark gap Tesla coil will be on steroids, 65w is fail...

Have fun anyway!
