Since in order to get more force x unit of current we need higher saturation magnetization so we need to find a suitable material for armatures.

Steel seems the best candidate since it has a very high saturation magnetization (in the order of a couple of tesla). Ferrite is good for eddy currents but bad for Msat.

There are any materials that exbit a higher Msat in nature or material science? The theory behind the ferromagnetic interaction is complex as much as the band metal theory but can be rationalized. So materials with higher Bsat are possible? It would improve non only coilguns but also transformers power transfer, low-cost NMR techniques etc

Merv... Good idea but I cant help much there. I would think if such materials exist than they would already be making transformers and similar devices out of them. Is there any difference in 'pure' iron as opposed to steel, or other alloys?

Good point. Pure iron should have a higher Bsat than steel (doped with C).

I'll search for some tables for comparison on literature. Then we will discuss it.
